Your SMSF team could include
SMSF Accountant
An SMSF accountant is responsible for undertaking all accounting activities, including recording what has happened in your SMSF, preparing the financial statements and annual return, lodgement of income tax returns and preparing any minutes or resolutions required. They may also perform other administrative tasks required and provide guidance on compliance matters for the SMSF.
Investment advisor/broker
An Investment Advisor is there to provide advice and guidance on investments for the SMSF which is tailored to your circumstances. Depending on the service the investment advisor provides, this could include regular reviews of the SMSF investments, advice on opportunities at ad hoc times, be a sounding board for potential opportunities and/or provide a broker service with trade placements following advice or on your instruction.
Financial Planner
A Financial Planner looks at your personal situation as whole, and help with financial decisions and planning for the future.
This may include advice about budgeting, investing, insurance needs, super and retirement.
Lawyer/estate planner
A Lawyer can assist with preparing the succession plan for the SMSF. There can be unexpected events which occur and having key documents prepared may be vital for the continuation of the SMSF or to ensure the benefits in the SMSF are paid in accordance to your wishes as superannuation does not form part of your estate unless directed by the trustee.
Key documents may include a binding death benefit nominations, enduring power of attorney's and Will's.
